Government & Industry Relations
Congress created the Federal Home Loan Bank System in 1932 to support the liquidity needs of financial institutions across the country, a mission it has performed effectively for the past 75 years. While we have evolved since then, we also face challenges that could either enhance or threaten our operations.
The Congress, the Administration, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, and other federal regulators have the final say on how policies on existing and new issues are developed and implemented. As a result, it is important that these policy makers are knowledgeable about how we execute our mission.
The Government and Industry Relations department’s goal is to build support for the Bank with all relevant constituents and public policy makers by enhancing awareness, understanding, and appreciation of our mission and operations. The Government and Industry Relations department acts as a liaison between all Bank divisions and these constituents.
Through HillNet (FHLBank Atlanta's grassroots network), public events and other efforts, we can increase the public's awareness and knowledge of the FHLBank System's mission and role in supporting the delivery of financial services, affordable housing and community development to our nation.
