Affordable Housing Program

The Affordable Housing Program (AHP) is a flexible source of grants and loans designed to help our member financial institutions and their community partners develop affordable owner-occupied and rental housing for very low- to moderate-income families and individuals.

Each year we commit 10 percent of our annual net income to developing affordable housing. Project sponsors partner with our member financial institutions to seek the competitive grants or low-cost loans. Since 1990, we have awarded over $407 million to the AHP to help construct or rehabilitate more than 63,000 homeownership and rental units.

There is one competitive application round per year for the AHP. We will accept applications during the second quarter and anticipate board of directors approval of winning projects in the fourth quarter. Applicants are encouraged to leverage their awards with other funding sources, including conventional loans, government-subsidized financing, tax-credit equity, foundation grants, and bond financing.

  • Applications are submitted using AHPOnline.
  • Before submitting an AHP application, project sponsors must complete a one-time registration.
