How HARP Can Help You

HARP—the Home Affordable Refinance Program—was created by the Federal Housing Finance Agency specifically to help homeowners who are current on their mortgage payments, but who owe almost as much or more than the current value of their homes. If you have a mortgage that is owned by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, you may be eligible for HARP refinancing.

HARP refinancing can help you save by:

  • Lowering your monthly payment
  • Reducing your interest rate
  • Changing your loan to a fixed rate from an adjustable rate
  • Reducing closing costs since an appraisal is usually not required

The Federal Housing Finance Agency has released new guidelines for HARP designed to approve more loans. Even if you were turned down for a HARP refinance before, you may now be eligible.

The deadline to get a HARP refinance has been extended to December 31, 2015. HARP refinancing is available through approved HARP mortgage lenders. For more information and to get started, visit
