July 2014 - Everyday FHLBank Atlanta is working to help its shareholder financial institutions succeed and maximize the value of their ownership in the cooperative. This core tenet of the Bank was the guiding theme of the 2014 Annual Member Conference, The Big Catch. More than 100 shareholders attended the event on June 5-8 at Amelia Island, Florida, and learned how to use the best of the Bank to build their businesses and grow their profits. Of these shareholders, more than 50 percent were attending for the first time or returning after several years of absence.
President and Chief Executive Officer Wes McMullan kicked off the conference with an update on the Bank’s strategic direction and plan for returning value to shareholders. Educational sessions focused on many of the top challenges and concerns shareholders are facing in their markets, ranging from information technology security to building a more profitable and efficient mortgage lending operation. Shareholders learned how to leverage their FHLBank Atlanta partnership to maximize core business value while growing profits through edge strategies. They also learned ways in which the Bank can help them create a roadmap for achieving business development goals and community lending compliance.
In addition, attendees gained valuable insight into the economic outlook, housing markets, and current growth opportunities from guest speakers and panelists representing financial services, residential housing development, and real estate law. Jon Gordon, international best-selling author of The Energy Bus, rounded out the conference with an inspirational message on overcoming obstacles to achieve personal and professional success.
“Each year we strive to demonstrate that, as our shareholders’ trusted advisor, FHLBank Atlanta can deliver the tools they need to be successful in any business environment,” said Robert Dozier, FHLBank Atlanta Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer. “We are thrilled to have had so many first-time attendees at this year’s conference and hope that all shareholders will take advantage of this unique learning opportunity at some point in the future.”
Mark your calendars for next year’s Annual Member Conference on June 4-7 at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia. Additional details and registration will be available in early 2015.
